Kindergarten Registration Starts in April Each Year
If your child is 5 by September 1, they can start school. Contact your school district to learn about open houses, registration and more.
FOR KIDS AND PARENTS
KITS Summer Program
KITS Summer Program takes place in person the summer before your child starts kindergarten. KITS consists of 24 sessions that are 2-hours each for kids. Parents also attend a parent group once a week.
Your child will:
- Learn to make friends, share and cooperate
- Build beginning reading and counting skills
- Do fun activities and play games
- Be in a positive, supportive setting with highly trained teachers
- Learn how to pay attention and handle big emotions
Parents will:
- Ways to support learning at home
- How to encourage positive behaviors at home and school
- Ways to support their children’s smooth transition to kindergarten
- How to become involved with their children’s schooling
VIRTUAL FOR PARENTS
KITS at Home
KITS at Home is an online program for parents of 4-6 year olds! Groups offered in English and Spanish. Multiple options for times and days will be available. Families will also have access to the KITS Learning Hub which includes videos for parents and kids to watch together.
Parents learn how to:
- Support learning at home
- Help children follow directions and cooperate
- Support your children to develop skills for school success
- Create routines to support children at home and school
- Teach children social-emotional skills that are important for school success
- Learn skills to reduce parenting/caregiving stress
- Learn how to connect with your child’s school
- Connect with other families in a relaxed, welcoming setting
